I had a similar situation. I appealed, asked for a jury trial, and eventually lost because I was out of town the day of the (rescheduled) hearing. Cost me 4 points (a lot) and a fine. My insurance rates went up. Good luck and keep up the fight. Don't leave town.

My aunt was Victorine Lederer and she was a pilot in the 30's. I have all of here newspaper clippings and have pieced together a book about her and other women pilots of the era. I'm developing a power point presentation about some golden nuggets of aviation history.
If you have any other information about my aunt please email me.

Thank you in advance.

Rechecking Wikipedia, I see that Evelyn Ruth is correct. Ava Gardner had relationships with Howard Hughes and bullfighters, but did not marry them. But she sure had bad taste in men, didn't she?

Ava was NOT married to Howard Hughes or any of the bullfighters she dated. She was married to Rooney, Shaw & Sinatra. Check your facts. A good source is the Ava Gardner Museum in Smithfield, NC. Their website is: www.avagardner.org.

"Julie and Julia" was the closing film for the TC Film Festival this year, but I have been reluctant to see it since I really loved/admired Julia Child and found the book written by Julie Powell to be very annoying and misleading. What Julia Child tried to do (and obviously with that Julie did not succeed) was to emphasize that good cooking depended on a number of techniques and was not related to slavish following of recipes. Once the techniques were mastered, then one could create delicious food by using them appropriately with a variety of ingredients. But the idea was to master the techniques, such as those for the classic sauces, stews, desserts, and so forth. In Julie Powell's book, she follows the recipes and complains about the expense and rarity of everything. This is part of her obsessive/compulsive rant. Julia Child obviously didn't want to meet with someone who so misunderstood her and, in a sense, ripped her off by trading on her reputation. I was given the book (Julie and Julia) as a gift and was so disgusted with it that thinking about made me angry.

When the film came out, I read the reviews and really wanted to see the parts with Myrle Streep. I think I'll wait until it's available on dvd and then I can zap past the Julie parts. I dislike the idea that she is making money from this, but like the idea that Mastering the Art of French Cooking is now on the best seller list. I have a very old, very used (by me) copy of both volumes.
