The Jewish One-Act Rock Musical of the Week: “Rooms”

Last week, it was “The Playdoh Golem”, part of the page to stage festival at the Kennedy Center.  This week it was “Rooms”, Paul Scott Goodman’s wonderful 90 minute one act rock musical about a Scottish Jewish American Princess and a Scottish Catholic alholic twenty-something, who meet, hit it big in the 1970s punk rock scene in London and then New York, and who then hit some very rocky times.  Actors Nastascia Diaz and Doug Kreeger are both outstanding, the music score is more than listenable, the plot is anticipatable but moving nonetheless, and the direction and staging was impeccable.  From Washington it goes to the Geva Theatre in Rochester, and then ….?  It ended its run at Alexandria’s terrific Metro Stage today.
